Dr E. Oliphant (University of Auckland - New Zealand))

In this presentation, Dr Liz Oliphant, academic & paediatric pharmacist, will explain the current situation for paediatric pharmaceutics in New Zealand, with a focus on those medicines for which commercial oral liquid formulations are not available. She will describe the work that has been undertaken over the last several years to standardise extemporaneous compounding at a national level, the ongoing challenges this poses, and potential future directions. With 18 years hospital experience, a current academic role at the University of Auckland, and a key member of the national Compounding Working Group, Liz has a passion for improving the medicines-related treatment of paediatric patients.
