3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is an industrial production technique that is gaining ground in all sectors. The manufacture of medicines is no exception. For several years now, this technique, which enables to manufacture very small batches, has been heralded as a drug production tool capable of meeting the growing needs of personalized medicine. After an intense period of laboratory research (both academic and industrial), 3D printing is starting to become a reality in the pharmacies of healthcare establishments. The aim of this talk will be to review the various 3D printing techniques currently used in hospital pharmacies, their advantages and disadvantages, their potential contribution to patient care, and a brief overview of the clinical evaluations already carried out.
